It might surprise you to know that prior to becoming a loan originator, Marshall was a biogeochemist working on a class of compounds with names that are challenging to pronounce. He also spent time doing research in psychology and neurology before becoming a high school educator.

Suffice it to say, Marshall is all about learning new things. He loves making connections between fields that seem completely unrelated, and helping people better understand information. This serves him well in the mortgage industry where information overload can be intimidating. Marshall draws upon his innate kindness, compassion, and his background in education to help his homebuyers build equity and understand their mortgage or refinancing options, and he sticks with his homebuyers long after closing day, continuing to advise them.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT MARSHALL

Marshall graduated from Brown University in 2011 with a degree in Geology-Biology where he was awarded the “Geological Sciences Award for Research, Academics, and Service”. He was later awarded the Colorado Department of Education’s “MoneyWi$er Award for Financial Innovation in Education” for the Financial Literacy Course he created for his 12th Grade mathematics students.

While Marshall is inspired by many, top of his list are Albert Einstein for his writings and views of the universe, and Sam Harris for his exploration of our inner lives. Sam’s course, called Waking Up, inspired Marshall to understand his own mind, and to bring calm presence into his interactions with others.

A researcher and educator at heart, Marshall continues to tutor high school students in mathematics, help those around him with his problem-solving skills, and write about his scientific findings.

HERE ARE A FEW MORE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT MARSHALL

When he’s not exercising all his academic and intellectual muscles at Spire, you will find Marshall in his home woodworking/bike shop or outside with his fantastic wife and doggo on his mountain bike or skis. (He’s been known to educate and gain clients while on a ski tour!)

He’s also an adventurer. Be sure to ask him about spending three months in the artic tundra as a young researcher, his cross-continent bike rides, backpacking across Panama and local adventures including the Ten Mile Range and the Colorado Trail.

Marshall is a forward thinker and, in the future, hopes to create meaningful, lasting relationships with his clients to give truly useful advice about important financial decisions in their lives.
